What is Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts?
Fine Hotels + Resorts (FHR) is American Express's luxury hotel booking program, available to Platinum and Centurion cardholders. When you book a participating property through Amex Travel's FHR portal, you pay the standard room rate but automatically receive a stack of elite-style benefits on top — with no minimum-night requirement.
There are more than 2,000 FHR properties worldwide, from the Park Hyatt Tokyo to boutique resorts in the Maldives. You can browse the full list on our FHR hotel directory or search any city on the interactive hotel finder.
What you get with every FHR booking
Every Fine Hotels + Resorts stay includes:
- Daily breakfast for two — a real, hot breakfast, not a token credit.
- A unique property credit — commonly $100, applied toward dining, spa or other on-site experiences.
- Room upgrade on arrival, when available.
- Guaranteed 4pm late checkout — one of the most valuable and reliable perks.
- Noon check-in, when available.
- Complimentary Wi-Fi and other property-specific extras.
The daily breakfast and guaranteed late checkout are what separate FHR from Amex's second tier, The Hotel Collection.
Which cards get FHR access?
FHR is a benefit of the personal and business Amex Platinum, the Business Platinum, and Centurion ("Black") cards. The Platinum also carries an annual $600 hotel credit (in semi-annual increments) that can offset FHR and The Hotel Collection prepaid bookings — effectively paying for part of your luxury stay.
The Amex Gold card does not get FHR, but it does get access to The Hotel Collection. Track which of these credits you hold in the free Card Tracker.
FHR vs The Hotel Collection vs Chase The Edit
Luxury hotels frequently appear in more than one card collection, so it pays to know the differences:
- FHR (Amex Platinum): daily breakfast, ~$100 credit, upgrade, 4pm checkout, no minimum stay.
- The Hotel Collection (Amex Platinum/Gold): $100 property credit and upgrade, but two-night minimum and no included breakfast.
- The Edit by Chase Travel (Sapphire Reserve): daily breakfast, $100 credit, upgrade and a Points Boost, with a two-night minimum.
- Premier Collection (Capital One Venture X): daily breakfast, $100 experience credit and 10x miles, two-night minimum.
When a property is bookable multiple ways, our hotel finder flags each option so you can choose the collection with the richest credit for your stay.
How to book FHR for maximum value
- Find your property on our FHR directory or the interactive map.
- Book through the Amex Travel FHR portal (not the hotel directly) so the benefits attach.
- Pay with your Platinum to trigger the annual hotel credit where eligible.
- At check-in, confirm your upgrade and 4pm checkout, and ask how to use the property credit.
FHR rates usually match the hotel's flexible rate, so you rarely pay a premium for the extra perks — the breakfast and credit alone often exceed any rate difference.

Is there a minimum stay for Fine Hotels + Resorts?
No. Unlike The Hotel Collection and The Edit (which require two nights), FHR benefits apply even on a one-night stay, which makes it ideal for short city trips.
Can I use my $600 Amex hotel credit on FHR?
Yes. The Platinum’s annual hotel credit applies to prepaid FHR and The Hotel Collection bookings made through Amex Travel, in semi-annual increments. It effectively discounts your luxury stay.
Does FHR count toward hotel elite status or points?
FHR bookings are typically eligible to earn the hotel program’s points and stay credit and to receive your elite benefits, because you’re booking a normal rate through a travel agency (Amex Travel). Confirm with the specific brand, as policies vary.
